8/15/2011 Last news from MT. Si!!!!

Hey Family,
So this week is nuts, on Friday we have Elder L Tom Perry and on Sat. we have our last baptism and then last Sunday in the mission and then UTAH here I come.
So about the bike what I am going to do is give the bike lock key to the person who handles all that stuff and he will either donate it to a missionary or sell, either way you do not have worry about getting it home.
I won't be bringing that much stuff home, just my big green bag and a backpack carry on so yeah not that much.
My temple recommend is good until November of this year so not for very much longer. That's all for this week. Have a great week and I shall be seeing you on Monday the 22 of August.
Love,
Elder O'Brien

7/18/2001 News from Mt. Si!!!

Hey Family,
Yea I was able to get an ID card (Driver's License in now expired) so I'm all set for the plane checkout. And no, since Elder Hanson is the driver it doesn't bother me at all that I am not the driver any more.
Also I can't have my homecoming on Aug. 28 because one of the elders that I have become great friends with is having his on that date and I promised him that I would be there. So anytime after that would be great.
The work here is great, even tho I can't stop thinking of home, like all the time, but not to the point that I don't focus on the work.
So yeah that's all for last week. Love ya all and have a great week.

Hey Family what's up,
Life is great here. Good news we have an on-date, so that is pretty exciting for us, her name is Taylor Mosier and she is 17, on date for the 30 of July, which is very exciting for Elder Hanson and I.
Also transfer calls came and we are both staying here, even tho both of us go home in six weeks.
The weather here is very hot as well, most of the time the sun is out and we get baked when we go out and tract.
So yeah that's about it to report on last week,
Love,
Elder O'Brien

6/14/2001 News from Mt. Si!!!

Hey Peeps,
The reason that I didn't email is that there was nothing going on last
week, but today was great we got to go to the temple for the last time
here in Seattle and we also had our second to last interviews, the
last being the exit interview in ten weeks.
It is soo crazy that I have two more months left, I am very excited and the same time scared to go home, the mission has been great and I will miss it a lot. So I don't know if I told you or not but I got my trunky call a couple weeks back and the office told me that she had bought the ticket for my home flight for the 22 of August 2011, Ohh man that made me sooooooooo trunky for home and then next month I will be receiving my itinerary report AKA trunky papers I am so excited to go home and resume life.
Anyways love ya much,

Hey Peeps,
How is thing's going, things are great here not much happening here worth reporting on.
Anyways I think I want to fly home, I will only be experiencing the thrill of flying home from my mission once so I might as well do it, one of my former comps is coming up and visiting Seattle this weekend and he will be taking home a lot of my stuff so basically all I will have is my suit case to bring home, so that is great so now I don't have to worry about mailing all this stuff home.
Love ya much,
Elder O'Brien

5/3/2011 News From Mount Si!!!

Hey Family,
Things are great here, we had a great day yesterday, that is why we did not have p-day yesterday. So yesterday elder Yoshihiko Kikuchi of the seventy came to the mission and talked to us from like 1-5:30 pm,that was a very long meeting. I can still feel my brains a little fried, but other than that it was a great meeting, we talked about how to become master teachers of he Gospel, he wants us to spend half hour each companionship study memorizing the concepts of each lesson, and then he wants us to learn the 5 10 and 30-40 minute version of each of them as well, so like 9 total, arg, shall see how that goes, I am very bad at memorizing stuff like that, so yeah. Talk to ya next Sunday and have a great week.

Elder O'Brien

4/25/2011 News from Mt. Si

Hi Family,
Doing good. Oh about my comp yes he has been out shorter time that I have. He's only been out for nine month not even a year, man if I still had that much time left I would slit my wrists and do push ups in salt water, just kidding, just kidding, figuratively speaking it would not be fun to be him and not me, and did I say he is also a district leader, and yes it has been very nice not having to make all the decisions so yeah lets see how long president will keep me junior, probably for this transfer only, and then I'll be senior again who knows what president is thinking these days great man.
Love ya,
Elder O'Brien

4/19/2011 News from Seattle 3rd!!!!

Hey family,
How's it going? Transfers were today and I got transferred hopefully to my last area in Mount Si in the Bellevue south zone. My new companion is Elder Van Den Akker he's a pretty cool kid so this should be a fun transfer, and he is also a district leader which means that I was put back as junior Comp YEAH!!!!!!! I hated being senior comp so now a lot of the weight has been taken off my shoulders.
Mom and Dad, I have given it a lot of thought these past few months and I would like it if you guys came and picked me up at the end of my mission, if that option is still open that is. One reason why is I have collected a lot of stuff over these last 20 months and it would be very expensive to ship it all home, if ya know what I mean. Also it would give me a chance to visit all my favorite families before going home, so if you guys are still okay with that, that is what I would like to do.
That is about it for this week.
Love ya all,
Elder O'Brien

4/11/2011 News from Seattle 3rd!!!!

Hey family,
Things are the same here, still tracting and finding people.
Elder Kikuchi of the seventy is going to be here in May, so we have a challenge from our mission president to find all the part-member families in our ward by then. We have about 22 families so a lot to work with.
Well anyways love ya all,
Elder O'Brien

4/4/2011 News from Seattle 3rd!!!!

Hey family,
Yeah I know my letters are short and I know that there isn't much to write it's because nothing is happening here in Seattle 3rd we seem to have hit a dry spot right now, we've got no investigators and so that means teaching members and tracting so that's all I have to report.
Conference was great my favorite talk was Elder Oaks talk and my all time favorite quote from him is "tracting into strangers will not build the kingdom of God, it will be through thoughtful discerning members bringing their friends to the gospel". Also there seemed to be a lot of speakers on getting married and since I am almost done with my mission I've been starting to think about that it's crazy that I only have five more months left. I love the mission and all, but I'm ready to come home and resume life, go to school find a wife and the rest is history. Another one of my favorite talks was the person who talked about doing and being. How we can just do things and it won't amount to anything unless we be that kind of person, so yeah that was my favorite talks this general conference.

Elder O'Brien

Hey family whats up,
Things are great here about the same, still working with the ward members.
Last Monday we went to Pikes Place Market and hung out and then played board games at a members house. This week we went to the temple and did initiatory which was a lot of fun, it has been awhile since I did those, so I thought I should do them. That's about it.

2/28/2011 News from Seattle 3rd ward !!!!!!!!!

Hey family what's up,
Things are fun here, not a whole lot going on other than doing a whole lot of member lessons. So here in my ward we are doing a 12 week thing with families and come into their house every week and help them with missionary work, so far we have been doing great with them. So far we are doing it with 3 families and hopefully we will get more to do it with later on. Two of the families we have been doing now for about 8-9 weeks are coming along great, one of them has already invited their neighbor over for FHE a few times and they have had a lot of great experiences with doing that. Our other family has a relative that is reading the book of Mormon and we have been helping this family answer the questions of their relative. The 3rd family we just barely started last Thursday and they are really excited to start doing missionary work. Things are really starting to pick up with the members and everyone is getting way excited about missionary work, these past couple months we have been having a lot of missionary focused sacrament meetings, so that is extremely fun. Sorry I didn't report much on our little adventure nothing much happened there were a couple of elders in my zone who needed to get some stuff at a few stores so we where running all over the place getting all this stuff.
Yeah that's about it for this week.
Love ya much,
Elder O'Brien

Hey peeps what's up,
Life is still slow here still have no investigators to teach so we are still tracting and contacting a lot which sometimes get boring really fast, but today is gonna be fun we are going downtown and going to see some stuff so that should be fun. That's about it that I have to report. Happy Valentine Day and have a great week.
Love,
Elder O'Brien.

2/7/2011 News from Seattle 3rd!!!

Hey family what's up,
Life is going good and starting to pick up a little. We have a few promising potential investigators so hopefully we will have somebody to teach, as it is we are doing a lot of tracting and contacting which is very boring. Other than that nothing much has happened here. Anyways sorry it's so short.

Elder O'Brien

1/31/2011 News from Seattle 3rd ward !!!!!!!!!

Hey family how you?
Things are going good. The weather here is cold sometimes and rumors here is that it might be snowy, so yeah NOT!!!!!!!! The snow here is not at all the same as in Utah.
Oh and we moved out of our apartment and into another one, so this is why, the UW, university ward missionaries don't have a bus and they live a long way away from campus. So they had us switch with them which kinda was a bummer cause we are now 10 miles out of our area, instead of right in the middle, so yeah we got the short end of the stick way bad.
We had an investigator come to church yesterday, first time in six weeks, so that was great, it was an unexpected visitor, but very well welcomed all the same. Church was great, it was all about missionary work and making up your own ward mission plan. You guys should think about doing that, finding someone to share the gospel with and have the missionaries teach them, that would be awesome, right? So as a missionary I am asking will you find people for the missionaries to teach?
Love ya,
Elder O'Brien.
